A large mining operation in the Northern Cape region of South Africa focuses primarily on iron ore extraction. Due to the extremely harsh operating conditions—high temperatures, heavy dust, and continuous heavy loads—the imported motors previously used at the site frequently suffered from overheating, insulation aging, and unstable speed during long-term operation.
In the most serious incident, the belt conveyor system suddenly shut down, causing more than two days of production stoppage and resulting in direct losses of hundreds of thousands of US dollars.
